Pair Who Fenced Stolen Car Parts Arrested In Secaucus: Police

Two men were arrested and charged with fencing stolen automobile parts on Friday, Jan. 3, following an undercover investigation by Secaucus police, authorities said.

On Monday, Dec. 30, officers responded to the 500 block of New County Road on a report of an abandoned vehicle, Secaucus police said. When officers arrived, they located a 2015 Honda CRV missing its bumper, passenger side door and headlights, police said. It was discovered the vehicle was stolen from Weehawken two days prior, police said.

New Year's Day saw officers discovering a 2023 Acura TLX missing it bumper, grill and wheels on the 200 block of Secaucus Road, police said. The vehicle had been stolen from Kenilworth on New Year's Eve.

An investigation by police revealed the bumper and tires from the Acura were being sold, police said. Detectives went undercover, purchasing the car parts from Jarol Vasquez-Puig, an 18-year-old Jersey City resident and Freddy Mendoz-Polanco,  a 38-year-old Bayonne resident, and placed both under arrest.

A search of Vasquez-Puig's residence turned up numerous automobile parts strewn throughout the backyard and alleyway, police said. Officer recovered the bumper stolen from the aforementioned 2023 Acura and the passenger door stolen from the aforementioned Honda CRV, police said. Detectives also located a motorcycle stolen from Jersey City in early December, police said.

The duo were charged with receiving stolen property and conspiracy to commit fencing, police said. Vasquez-Puig was also charged with operation of a facility for sale of stolen automobile parts and charged by Jersey City police with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, police said.
